Toys for Ferrets
This is the most exciting time for both your ferret and you. Ferrets love to play with hard balls, ping pong balls, squeaky toys, large tubes, boxes and with you and their ferret companions. Toys don't have to be expensive as an old shoe box is just as fun as a ferret snooze sack. Blowing bubbles for them is great fun. Ferts love to run and climb and jump especially over your sofa, up your curtains and onto your coffee table so make sure any items of value are securely hidden or removed from the room. Dark places are great fun to hide in so shoes, under your sofa and any tiny holes that can be got in must be safe.
Playtime can be in the hutch - always provide toys and boxes. In the exercise run - always provide water and amusing hidey holes to escape the sun. On a harness and lead - ferrets love to explore and dig in new environments. In your house - front rooms and stairs provide great stimulation and lots of exercise opportunities, water should also be available.
A sign that a ferret is happy in play is the noises that they make and the dances that they do. I love to listen to my 2 running and giggling all round the room, they can also chatter, scream, bark and hiss. They can chase each other around the room, do the war dance, alligator roll each other round the floor and stalk you all round the room waiting to pounce! Also watch your carpet as they can dig and dig it up to bare liner. Ferrets can also frizz themselves up in anger and happiness so beware and expect that you will find your expensive items or wallet hidden behind the sideboard.
