Working Ferrets

Not all ferrets are pets; they were originally bred and kept in captivity for the purpose of being used as working ferrets. This is still the case today as ferts are used to catch and control the rabbit population. Nets are laid over all the rabbit holes and the ferret is placed in a hole to chase out the rabbit, it is not the ferret that kills the rabbit.

Racing Ferrets

Racing ferrets involves between 9 and 21 competitors and 3 pipes of equal length. This is very unpredictable as if a ferret doesn't want to race it wont but it can be fun for all concerned. The ferrets are placed in the pipe and have to run 2 lengths of the pipe, this is all done by encouragement from the owner by cheering his competitor on. The winner completes the lengths in the quickest time.

Showing Ferrets

If you're proud of your ferrets perhaps you would want to show them off. Classes of ferrets are divided by colour, age, working, rescued and any other fun category that the organiser can think of. The winning ferrets receive trophies and rosettes and recognition that they are a gorgeous animal.
