Rescue Ferrets
Ferrets can be bought at any age, from a very young kit to an old aged fert. Young ones can be hard work as they require training but learn quickly. Older ones can be less work as have slowed down in life but you may not get to spend as much time with them.
Rescues are dotted over the country and can specialise in just ferrets or rescue a variety of stray and unwanted animals. They cannot always provide you with the exact age and colour ferret, but if you want to give a ferret a 2 nd chance please consider helping by re homing from a rescue.
Ferret Breeders
Buying from a breeder can get you exactly the age and colour ferret you require but you must be certain of the caliber of breeder you choose (if not for the sake of the ferrets being bred then for the quality of the kits being produced and bought).
There are good and bad breeders, some people do it for the money and others for the love of ferrets. A good breeder will give you advice, show you the ferrets with the mother and how they are kept day to day and produce healthy kits. They will handle the kits from a very young age and begin the training process you will have to carry on with. Good breeders can be recommended in ferret magazines or from vets. .
