After a lie in and late breakfast Monsta had an hour in the run in the afternoon. In the evening she had a run in the house and was introduced to a ferrets favourite food – coconut and sure enough she bit a big chunk off and ran away to hide and nibble it.
Day 12 Training
Normal day followed by a run in the house. We continued her bite training using bitter apple spray on our hands, feet and anything else chewable. We are also teaching her a no biting command. Her handling is improving, she enjoys being stroked for short periods but she is still trying to bite as you pick her up. The strength of bite is turning into a small nip or just a warning shot without contact. Getting her used to us looking at her paws and teeth is coming along but she is not too happy with you touching her ears.
Day 13 Normal day
The normal cleaning, feeding routines and a lazy day followed by a run around in the house. It was the first time since her spay that we tried again with Nibbler for 10 minutes.
Day 14 Moving day
A normal morning was followed by a hectic afternoon. I came home early and it was time to move Foxy and Nibbler into the garage for winter. This involved giving their hutch a proper clean and to move Monstas hutch out of the way. Monsta had to be put into the carry case while Foxy and Nibbler were in the run. Foxys hutch has been put on the garage floor with Monstas hutch taken off its legs and placed on top of the other hutch. In the evening Monsta had a run in the house.
Day 15 Shoes
For breakfast Monsta was given a large ham bone which she stripped and nibbled bare. In the evening she had a run in the front room and found how fun it was to investigate shoes and play with a canac ball.
Day 16 Night exploring
In the evening while we sat and watched the tv in candle light, we let Monsta have a run around the front room. It gave her a chance to explore the room in different light so she could use her senses and night vision.
Day 17 My Birthday
With her breakfast I gave Monsta a mushroom to experiment with, Foxy likes to play and eat these so I thought Monsta would like to try but all she did was bite it a little bit. In the afternoon she had a little run around and then had a chicken bone for dinner which she demolished and is now in tiny pieces. After our dinner we let her have another run around where Monsta and I had a play together.
Day 18 Buried alive
This morning Monsta had a play in the carry case while I cleaned her out and made her breakfast as it was raining outside. As a treat after breakfast I gave her a small piece of toast to nibble on which I can no longer find so she must have eaten all of it. In the afternoon I tried to call Monsta so I could let her have a run around in the house. I could feel her moving around in her bedding and she kept wriggling but she would not come out, after a couple of minutes I got a bit worried and took all the bedding out other than the duvet cover she had hidden in. Monsta had burrowed so far in that neither of us could find the opening she could get out of. Eventually we got her out so she could have a run around.
Day 19 Nibbler
In the day I tried Monsta with Nibbler again. At first it went ok, then they got very noisy and Nibbler started to bite her. In the evening Monsta had a run around in the house.
Day 20 Halloween
After a quiet day, Monsta had a run in the evening where she kept hiding under the footstool and trying to pray on me while playing. Monsta was put to bed with banana treats and a dental stix chew. More...........................................
